7/4, 미국의 독립기념일! Independence day!

7월 4일 미국의 독립기념일은, 미국의 여느 휴일과 달리 날짜를 지정하고 있는 유일한 날이 아닐까 싶다.

그 정도로 미국인들에게, 미국에 있어 이 날은 미국의 재탄생, 생일과도 같이 여겨지는 축제의 날이다.

미국은 여러 공휴일을 몇째 주 월요일 등으로 지정하고 휴일과 이어지게 두는 경향이 있는데, 이 때문에 사람들은 긴 연휴를 편안히 즐길수 있다.

한국처럼 징검다리 휴일이니, 휴가를 내야 하나 말아야 하나 하는 고민을 없애준다.

나는 개인적으로 이런 미국의 시스템이 매우 합리적이고 그들의 '놀땐 놀고 일할 땐 일하는' 진정한 문화를 엿볼수 있다고 여겨진다.

어제는 맨하탄에서 즐기는 축제를 볼수 있었다.

개인적인 사정으로 아파트 옥상에서 보긴했지만, 다음에는 반드시 부둣가로 가서 즐기고 싶다는 욕구가 치솟았다.

 

Independence Day of the United States on July 4, unlike other holidays in the United States, seems to be the only day that designates a date.
To that extent, for Americans, in the United States, this day is a festive day that is regarded as the birthday of America's rebirth.
The United States tends to designate several public holidays on certain Mondays and so on and keep them connected to the holidays, which allows people to enjoy long holidays comfortably.
It is a stepping-stone holiday like Korea, so it eliminates the worry of whether or not to take a vacation.
Personally, I think this American system is very reasonable and I can get a glimpse of their true culture of 'playing while playing and working while working'.
Yesterday, I was able to see a festival in Manhattan.
I watched it from the rooftop of my apartment due to personal circumstances, but I had a strong desire to go to the pier and enjoy it next time.

미주리 미시시피 강에서 보던 불꽃과도 비슷하지만, 도심 한복판에 길게 이어지는 East River에서의 축제는 가수들의 축하공연에 이어 정말 축제의 장이다.

아파트 옥상에서 보다보니 건물 한 곳에 가려져 강이 잘 안보이는 점이 아쉬웠지만, 나름대로 만족스러운 사진을 남겼다.

 

It is similar to the fireworks seen on the Mississippi River in Missouri, but the East River festival, which runs long in the middle of the city, is truly a festival venue following the celebratory performances of singers.
Looking at it from the roof of the apartment, it was regrettable that the river was not visible because it was hidden in one  building, but I left a satisfactory picture in my own way.

 

불꽃은 정말 하늘에 수놓는 예술작품과 같았다.

하늘을 빛나게 만들고 아름다움 색으로 물들게 할수 있는 유일한 수단이 아닐까.

자연이 가져다 주는 노을, 무지개와 같은 아름다움도 있지만,

그 어디에서도 볼수 없는 불꽃의 모습은  그걸 보고 있는 모든 사람들에게 흥분과 설렘을 제공한다.

그래서 어린아이부터 나이든 사람들까지 모두 불꽃에 열광하는게 아닌가 싶다.

미국은 축제 때 마다 불꽃놀이를 즐긴다. 그리고 모두에게 축하의 인사를 건넨다. 

마치 나의 생일이 된 것 처럼 말이다.

나는 이런 문화를 사랑한다.

 

한국도 많은 축제 문화가 있지만, 미국의 독립기념일처럼, 우리도 3.1절이나 광복절을 축제의 장으로 만들어보는 건 어떨까.

한국만의 엄숙함과 진지함이 어쩌면 더 많은 사람들이 자연스레 스며들지 못하게 하는 답답함이 있는 것은 아닌지 하는 생각이 들었다.

언제 우리가 3.1절이나 광복절에 서로에게 축하한다고 말한 적이 있는가.

모두가 행복하게 축제를 즐겼던가 되새겨 본다.

역사를 소중히 여기면서도 즐길 줄 하고 축제의 장으로 만들어 모두가 행복을 느낄수 있다면,

진정한 자유를 쟁취한 사람들 만이 누릴수 있는 혜택이라 생각이 든다.

 

이런 미국의 문화를 한국도 배웠으면 좋겠다.

 

The fireworks really were like a work of art embroidering the sky.
Isn't it the only way to make the sky shine and dye it with beautiful colors?
There are also beauty such as sunset and rainbow that nature brings,
The appearance of fireworks that cannot be seen anywhere else provides excitement and excitement to everyone who sees them.
So I think everyone, from children to the elderly, can be enthusiastic about fireworks.
Americans enjoy fireworks at every festival.

And congratulations to everyone. It's like it's my birthday.
I love this culture.
Korea also has many festival cultures, but like Independence Day in the United States, how about making 3.1 or Gwangbok Day into a festival ground?
I wondered if the solemnity and seriousness unique to Korea might be stuffy, preventing more people from permeating naturally.
When did we say congratulations to each other on March 1st or Gwangbok Day, we reflect on whether everyone enjoyed the festival happily.
If history is cherished and enjoyed, and everyone can feel happiness by making it a place of festival,
I think it is a benefit that only those who have won true liberty can press.

I hope Korea learns this American culture as well.
