Snow in Manhattan

작년 이 맘 때만 해도 맨하탄에서 눈을 볼 수 없었다.

뉴욕에 눈이 온다고 해도 맨하탄에는 눈이 오지 않아서 한번도 보지 못했던 거 같다.

그래도 올해는 간간히 눈이 오는 듯 하다.

개인적으로 추운 날씨를 그렇게 좋아하지 않지만,

그래도 겨울은 눈이 와야 겨울 같다고나 할까.

 

Last year around this time, there was no snow in Manhattan.
Even though it snows in New York, it doesn't snow in Manhattan, so I don't think I've ever seen it.
However, it seems like it might snow occasionally this year.
Personally, I don't like cold weather that much,

but it can be said that winter only feels like winter when it snows.

 

밤새 내린 눈이 마치 벚꽃처럼 피어있었다.

사진으로 찍으니 완전히 벚꽃느낌이었다.

실제로 봤을 때는 새하얀 겨울왕국 같았다.

 

The snow that had fallen overnight was blooming like cherry blossoms.
When I took the picture, it completely felt like cherry blossoms.
When I actually saw it, it looked like a pure white winter wonderland.

 

신기한 것은 미국에도 염화칼슘을 쓰는 것 같긴한데,

거리가 더러워지지 않는다는 점이다.

한국에서는 눈이 녹은 뒤 바닥이 더러워지는 것 때문에 

눈 온 거리 이후 깨끗한 거리를 보기 어려운데,

이 곳은 신기하게 눈과 염화칼슘의 뒤섞임이 그렇게 보이지 않는다.

그래서 깨끗한 눈을 오래 볼 수 있는 듯하다.

 

What’s interesting is that calcium chloride seems to be used in the U.S. as well.
The point is that the streets are not dirty.
In Korea, the floor gets dirty after the snow melts.
It's hard to see clean streets after it snows.
Strangely enough, the mixture of snow and calcium chloride does not appear that way in this place.
So it seems like you can see clean eyes for a long time.

 

동심을 만들어 주는 하얀 눈,

추운 것은 싫지만, 겨울에는 눈이 내려야 제대로 겨울을 지낸 느낌이다.

예쁜 눈 꽃을 매년 볼 수 있으면 한다.

 

White eyes that create a sense of innocence,
I hate being cold, but I feel like I've had a proper winter only when it snows.
I wish I could see pretty snow flowers every year.
