뉴욕 공립 도서관 - New York Public Library

오늘은 맨하탄에 위치한 뉴욕 공립 도서관을 소개하고자 한다.

뉴욕 시티에는 공립도서관이 곳곳에 많이 자리하고 있다. 

뉴욕 시티 거주자로서 주소지를 증명하면 회원 카드를 만들수 있고 이 카드로 뉴욕 시티에 있는 모든 공립 도서관을 무료로 이용할 수 있다.

 

Today, I would like to introduce the New York Public Library located in NYC.
There are many public libraries located throughout New York City.
As a New York City resident, you can create a membership card by providing your address, and with this card, you can use all libraries in New York City for free.

또한 도서관 앱을 설치하면 핸드폰으로 e-book을 볼 수 있다.

카드는 온라인으로 신청한 후 도서관에 가서 직접 받으면 되고,

온라인으로 신청한 후에는 14일 안에 도서관으로 가서 카드를 찾아야 한다. 

각 도서관 규모는 지역마다 조금씩 다르고 외관도 다양하다.

현대식 건물도 있지만 크고 웅장한 유럽풍 건물들도 있다. 

 

You can also view e-books on your phone by installing the subscription app.
The cards were applied online and then could be received directly in the library.
After applying online, you have 14 days to pick up your card at the library.
Each library varies from region to region and has a diverse scope.
There are modern buildings, but there are also larger, European-style buildings.

뉴욕 도서관에 있는 한국어 책

또 한가지 놀라운 점은 한국어 책들이 있다는 사실이다.

글로벌한 뉴욕 답게, 한국어 책들도 많이 있었다. 

미주리에서도 도서관을 많이 가 보았지만 한국어 책을 많이 보지 못했는데 뉴욕에는 한국어 책이 꽤나 있었다. 

 

Another surprising thing is that there are Korean books.
As New York is a global city, there were many Korean books.
I visited a lot of libraries in Missouri, but I didn't see many Korean books, but in New York, there were quite a few Korean books.

 

나는 개인적으로 도서관을 좋아해서 그냥 도서관에 가서 있는 것을 좋아한다.

책을 다 읽지 않더라도 다양한 제목들을 보면서 느끼는 것들도 있다.

그리고 도서관이 가지는 차분함, 그리고 아늑함은 남다르다.

몇몇 도서관은 루프탑을 가지고 있어서 커피 한 잔을 즐기기에도 충분하고,  컴퓨터 등 미디어를 즐길수도 있다.

뉴욕커가 아니더라도 도서관안에서 이용하는 것은 무엇이든 카드 없이도 할수 있다.

뉴욕에 오면 박물관 뿐 아니라 도서관도 필수 코스가 아닐까 싶다.

 

Personally, I like libraries, so I just like going to the library.
Even if you don't read the entire book, there are things you feel while looking at the various titles.
And the calm and coziness of the library is unique.
Some libraries have rooftops where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or use computers and other media.
Even if you are not a New Yorker, you can use anything in the library without a card.
When coming to New York, I think not only museums but also libraries are must-sees.
