Summit one Venderbilt!!

요즘 뉴욕 맨하탄에는 많은 전망대가 있다.

이전에는 당연히 맨하탄에 오면 Empire State building 이 필수코스 였는데,

요즘은 Empire State building을 비롯하여 The Edge, 그리고 Summit 까지 각각 특색있는 코스를 즐길수 있다.

세 곳 모두 다른 특색이 있어 어느 하나가 가장 좋다고 말은 못하지만, 

아무래도 가장 오래된 역사를 자랑하는 것은 Empire state building일 것이고,  West side의 주 경치와 외부의 선셋, 바람을 느끼고 싶다면 The Edge, 그리고 짜릿한 경험을 오래 하고 싶다면 단연 Summit을 추천하고 싶다.

Summit은 맨하탄 42번가에 위치하고 있는데 그 외관부터 특색을 자랑한다.

밖에서 보아도 투명한 유리안으로 많은 사람들이 움직이는 것이 보인다.

전망대이기 때문에, 그리고 나는 Empire와 The Edge를 모두 가 보았기 때문에 두 곳 중 어느 하나를 닮았을 것이라 생각했지만 전혀 다른 모습에 입장료가 하나도 아깝지 않았다.

 

These days, there are many observatories in Manhattan, New York.
Previously, the Empire State Building was a must-visit when coming to Manhattan.
These days, you can enjoy each unique course, including the Empire State Building, The Edge, and Summit.
All three have different characteristics, so I can't say which one is the best.
The Empire State Building boasts the longest history, and if you want to see the main view of the West side, the sunset outside, and feel the wind, I would definitely recommend The Edge, if you want to have a long, thrilling experience, I would definitely recommend Summit.
Summit is located on 42nd Street in Manhattan and boasts a unique appearance from its exterior.
Even from the outside, you can see many people moving through the transparent glass.
Because it is an observatory, and because I have been to both Empire and The Edge, I thought it would resemble one of the two, but it looked completely different and was worth the price of admission.

 

내부에서 바라본 경치

일단 철저한 보안검색 때문에 보안검색 줄이 많이 길었다. 

그리고 어느 곳이나 필수 코스인 사진, 여기만의 특색은 '신발 커버'였다.

첨엔 '이걸 왜 신으라는 거지?' 했는데 들어가는 순간..바로 이해되어버렸다는..

엘리베이터에서 내리자 마자 마주하는 것은 모두 'Sky walk'이다.

거울과 유리만이 내부를 구성하고 있고 이런 Sky walk 공간이 3개 층으로 이어져 있다.

신발 커버가 없었다면 아마 투명한 유리를 구경할 수 없었을 것이다.

대신 그 눈부심 때문에 선글라스는 필수이다!

 

First of all, the security line was very long due to the thorough security screening.
And while photography is a must-see anywhere, the unique feature here was ‘shoe covers.’
At first, I thought, ‘Why are they requesting to wear these?’ But the moment I walked in, I understood it right away.
As soon as you get off the elevator, what I see is all around 'Sky Walk'.
Only mirrors and glass make up the interior, and this skywalk space is connected over three floors.
Without shoe covers, you probably wouldn't have been able to see the transparent glass.
Instead, sunglasses are a must because of the glare!

맨 꼭대기 층에 위치한 카페에는 다양한 음료 뿐 아니라 샌드위치 등 먹거리들을 판매하고 있다.

이곳으로 갈때는 신발 커버를 벗게 되는데 그러면 이제 다시 아래층으로 갈수는 없다.

나는 바나나 푸딩과 passion fruit cosmo cocktail 한잔을 시켰다.

바로 옆에서 경치를 구경할수 있으니 더없이 좋았다.

모든 곳이 저렇게 되어 있으니 사람들이 많아도 충분히 내가 볼수 있는 공간이 넘쳐났다.

 

The cafe located on the top floor sells a variety of drinks as well as sandwiches and other food.
I ordered banana pudding and a passion fruit cosmo cocktail.
It was great to be able to see the scenery right next to me.
Every place was like that, so even if there were a lot of people, there was plenty of space for me to see.

이곳의 관람은 밤 12시까지 있는데 아마도 특별한 야경을 즐길 수 있기 때문이 아닐까 싶다.

선셋도 아름답다고 하니 저녁 시간에 한번 쯤 다시 방문하면 좋을 것 같았다.

특별한 아름다움이 존재하는 이곳..

왜 더 인기가 많아지고 있는지 단번에 알수 있었다.

다만 겁이 너무 많은 사람들은 마음을 단단히 먹어야 할 듯 하지만, 아무렇지 않게 있다 보면 익숙해지기도 한다.

너무 아름다워서 무서움을 잊어버리게 된다고 할까.

만약 맨하탄에 와서 세 곳 중 한 군데만 가봐야 한다면 나는 Summit을 추천하고 싶다.

 

This place is open until midnight, probably because you can enjoy a special night view.
I heard that the sunset is also beautiful, so I thought it would be a good idea to visit again at least once in the evening.
This place where special beauty exists...
I could immediately see why it was becoming more popular.
However, people who are too scared may need to brace themselves, but if you don't worry about it, you may get used to it.
It's so beautiful that you forget your fear.
If you come to Manhattan and only have to visit one of the three places, I would recommend Summit.
