맨하탄 Grand Bazaar 플리 마켓

오늘 소개할 곳은 upper west side에 위치한 고정적인 Flea market 이다.

주소는 100 W 77th St, New York, NY 10024, 매주 일요일마다 오픈한다.

예술의 도시 뉴욕 답게, 이곳은 정말 각종 예술 작품들과 빈티지로 넘쳐난다.

간단한 먹거리도 당연히 또다른 재미이지만, 단연 예술 작품들은 최고이다.

 

The place to introduce today is a fixed flea market located on the upper west side.

The address is 100 W 77th St, New York, NY 10024, open every Sunday.
Like New York, the city of art, this place is really overflowing with various artworks and vintage.
Simple food is of course another fun, but the art works are by far the best.

마켓 입구

입구에 들어서면 먹거리가 제일 먼저 보인다.

정말 신기한 작품들이 많다.

각종 수공예품

이 곳에서 볼 수 있는 작품들은 전부 100% 수공예품들이다.

그리고 오래된 수집품가들의 물건들, 실외와 실내로 나뉘어져 있는데 실내에는 그림, 악세서리가 많이 있다.

정말 여기는 볼거리가 너무 풍부해서 시간이 가는 줄 모르고 한참을 구경했다.

 

The works you can see here are all 100% handcrafted.
And things from old collectors, it is divided into outdoor and indoor, and there are many paintings and accessories in the interior.
There is so much to see here that I spent a lot of time looking around without realizing the time was passing.

오래된 사진과 앨범들

악세서리와 수공예품들

정말 신기한건 오래된 LP, 그리고 사진과 앨범들이었다. 

유명한 사람이 아닌 사진도 그 배경이 오랜된, 역사적 의미가 있는 그런 것들을 수집한 것 같았다.

그리고 이제 그것들을 공유하고자 하는 것 같았다.

정말 신기했다.

 

What was really interesting was old LPs, photos and albums.
Even photos of non-famous people seemed to be a collection of things with old backgrounds and historical significance.
And now it seemed to want to share them.
It was really unique.

 

작품으로 재탄생한 빈병들

제일 기억에 남은 건 이 빈 병들이었다.

이 병들은 전부 쓰레기, 그리고 산속, 물속 등에서 발견된, 그리고 수집된 것들이다.

이것들이 예술 작품으로 재탄생한 순간이었다.

이 마켓을 한번 구경하는 것은, 새로운 아이디어를 얻는 일과 같은 기분이 들었다.

아쉽게 사진은 없지만, 망가진 시계의 부품을 활용해서 만든 목걸이도 있었는데, 세상에 하나뿐인 특이한 목걸이가 너무 예뻤다.

모든 것을 가볍게 여기지 않고 예술로 작품으로 재탄생시키는 그들의 아이디어야 말로 예술을 말해주는 것 같았다.

자주 구경을 가게 될 것 같다.

 

What I remember the most were these empty bottles.
These bottles are all garbage, found in the mountains, in the water, etc., and collected.
It was the moment when these were reborn as works of art.
Visiting this market once felt like getting a new idea.
Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, but there was also a necklace made using parts from a broken watch, and the one and only unique necklace in the world was so pretty.
Their idea of not taking everything lightly and recreating it as a work of art seemed to speak of art.
I guess I'll be visiting often.
