Korean Culture Center New York - Korean Animation Series

뉴욕 맨하탄 K-Town 인근에 위치한 Korean Culture Center New York 은 올해 2월에 개관을 했다.

이곳에서는 다양한 한국 문화 행사들이 개최된다. 

2024/8/2-8/3 이틀간 진행된 Korean Animation Series 에서는 각 요일마다 9개의 창작 애니메이션이 공개되었다.

70분간 intermission 없이 진행된 이번 행사에서는 매우 감성적인 부분이 강조됐다.

 

The Korean Culture Center New York, located near K-Town in Manhattan, New York, opened in February of this year.
Various Korean cultural events are held here.
During the Korean Animation Series held on August 2-3, 2024, nine original animations were released each day.
The event, which lasted 70 minutes without an intermission, emphasized very emotional aspects.

 

 

조금은 난해하고 어렵기도 한 감성적인 애니매이션인 듯 해서 과연 외국인들은 어떻게 이해했을지 궁금했다.

한국적인 정서도 있지만, 너무 한국적인 우울감이 많이 있는 듯 해서 아쉬웠다.

더구나 아이들을 데리고 온 가족이 많지는 않았지만,

과연 아이들에게 이해가 되었을지 궁금했다.

 

It seemed like a somewhat difficult and emotional animation, so I wondered how foreigners would understand it.
It had Korean sentiments, but it seemed to have too much Korean melancholy, which was disappointing.
In addition, there weren't many families who brought their children,
so I wondered if the children would understand it.

 

조금은 일본식 애니매이션이나 디즈니 애니매이션과 같은 것들을 상상했는데 

전혀 다른 감성과 구성이어서 낯설기도 했다.

완전 순수 창작물이라 더 그런 듯 했다.

그리고 매우 개인적인 감성에만 의존하고 있어서 해석이 어려웠다.

아무튼 그래도 좋은 한국 문화원을 방문해 본 좋은 기회였다.

 

I imagined something like Japanese animation or Disney animation,
but it felt unfamiliar because it had a completely different sensibility and composition.
It seemed even more so because it was a completely original creation.
And it was difficult to interpret because it relied only on very personal sensibilities.
Anyway, it was a good opportunity to visit a good Korean cultural center.
